Happy Halloween! How did you enjoy Halloween this year? I decorated a pumpkin and some fake mice on my porch. Also I put some small candy bags out for neighbor kids.
Before the event, I attended an online class via zoom “Let’s Draw Owls: Anatomy and Angles” by John Muir Laws with Audubon California. It was time well spent. Especially since I’ve been a fan of his great book “The Laws Guide to Drawing Birds“. I got the Japanese version of the book (“鳥の描き方マスターブック“) in Tokyo in 2016. Although the book is very helpful, there are only a few pages for owls. So the lecture helped me understand how to draw owls a lot better.
One interesting thing I learned is that owl legs are longer than I expected!
This is the video of online class I took.
There is the part 2 “How to Draw Owls: Feathers, Textures, and Environment“
I found another book to draw animals including owls. I have not bought it yet but it looks interesting. Some parts of the book say similar things to the John Muir Laws video.
