American River

It’s spring! I don’t see Northern Flickers as much lately, but they are still around.

I’d like to share photos I took at a park along the American River in fall and winter in Sacramento, California. The park is close to a residential area and you’ll see people jogging, bicycling, walking dogs, and horseback riding there.

The area around the river supports a diverse bird population.

Information for American River

Drive about 90 mins from San Francisco

I parked at Harrington Way. Don’t forget cash for parking fee: $5.

There are some public restroom at parking lots.

I recommend hiking boots because of varied terrain. Take your water bottle!

I hope you will enjoy birdwatching there.
